As we have mentioned on previous occasions, the sequel to the 2018 film takes into account the physical disappearance of Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on August 28, 2020, after losing his battle against colon cancer.
Far from falling into a reformulation of the character of T’Challa, the film manages to make this death an important point to trigger the plot.
Recall that in the plot of the first Black Panther movie mention is made of the romantic relationship that T’Challa had with Nakia, one of the most skilled spies in the kingdom of Wakanda.
In the plot we see that Nakia runs a charity in Haiti, where she has lived for the last six years, including Thanos’ attack on Wakanda, the snap that ended half the Universe, and the blip that returned to that half, including was T’Challa.
What is the post-credits scene in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever about?
After Shuri arrives in Haiti, Nakia receives her at her home, where she finally burns the ceremonial clothes with which she mourned the deaths of Ramonda and T’Challa, and with that she finally opens her soul.
In that process, Nakia introduces Shuri to a boy, who introduces himself as Toussaint. To Shuri’s (and the audience’s) surprise, Nakia reveals that Toussaint is the son that she and T’Challa conceived, and that both T’Challa and Queen Ramonda already knew about.
The reason Nakia and T’Challa kept toussaint’s existence hermetically sealed is so as not to overwhelm him with the duties he’ll take on as King once he grows up.
Possibly Toussaint will be the next bearer of the Black Panther mantle, which Shuri now holds as Queen of Wakanda, even her incorporation into the Young Avengers can be glimpsed.
Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from the world powers that intervene after the death of King T’Challa.
As the people of Wakanda struggle to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must unite with the help of the Dogs of War, Nakia and Everett Ross, and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will feature the return of Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Lupita N’yongo and Angela Basset. Mexican Tenoch Huerta joins as Namor, the Submariner.
Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now available in theaters in the Mexican Republic.
