Nicolas Cage affirms that the sequel to “Contracara” will feature his participation and the appearance of the sons of Castor Troy and Sean Archer.
The 59-year-old actor is set to reprise his role in Adam Wingard’s sequel to the 1997 action thriller and says his character’s offspring and that of John Travolta will be in the new film.
“I think “Face/Off-2 is a sequel that lends itself to a lot of twists and turns and unpredictability. It’s almost like if you take into account the idea of offspring and Castor and Sean having children and these children grow up, then it becomes like three-dimensional chess. So it’s not just the two of us, John Travolta and me, it’s four of us playing ping-pong and going to different levels, and it gets even more complex,” he told Collider.
The “Grande Isle” star confirmed that he had “a meeting” about the movie, but nothing is set in stone.
“I think there’s a lot of fertile ground there. Maybe I had a meeting in an office, but I haven’t heard from it since, so I don’t know,” he said.
The Oscar winner died in the original film but Wingard, 40, said the new installment will be an “absolute sequel” that will allow the actor to return.
“He’s having such a moment. Even before ‘Pig’ came out, we were looking at this as a Nicolas Cage movie,” Adam stated.
The actor who showcased his chops not only as an action star but also as a comedic character in “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” is enjoying a newfound popularity in Hollywood.
“That’s totally become the way to go now. A couple of years ago, the studio might have wanted a hot, up-and-coming young actor or something. Now, Nicolas Cage is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood again.” “Wingard finished.
