A few months ago we were taken by surprise by the sad news that the Kazuki Takahashithe creator of ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! had passed away. Everything pointed to the fact that the mangaka had suffered an accident while snorkeling, since his body was found after several days lost adrift in the ocean.
After a long investigation, more details were released about his death, which in fact occurred because Takahashi did not think twice to save two people who had been trapped by a large stream of water.
Confirmed by witnesses
Robert Bourgeau, A US Army major who works as a diving instructor was present during the incident on July 4. As confirmed by Beourgeau, a class was scheduled to be given in an area of Onna Village known as the Mermaid Grotto, but the tide was much higher than usual and they met a woman asking for help.
Along with his companion and his eleven-year-old daughter, he had gone to the area to practice snorkeling but the group had been trapped by a strong current. So Bourgeau and one of his students rushed into the water to help them, and so did Takahashi, who was vacationing in the area.

“He is a hero. He died trying to save another person,” said the instructor, who confirmed that they were able to save the victims who had been caught by the current, but that Takahashi never got out of the water. “This man had a huge impact on the world.”
Witnesses explained that they only saw Takahashi disappear. A few days later his body was found on the coast of Nago, north of Okinawa, while his vehicle was found in an area near the accident.
