The International Book and Audiovisual Media Fair (FILMAQ) will be the opportunity for lovers of reading to explore a universe of art and culture.
The International Book and Audiovisual Media Fair (FILMAQ) will take place from June 14 to 18 in the city of Querétaro. This event will feature more than 230 activities between editorial presentations, projections, workshops, conversations, tributes and concerts. The meeting will be attended by 90 publishers, including 40 independent labels.
“Book fairs are evolving, in this case they are evolving to encompass all the different formats where stories are told. It is important to know how stories are told and from where they are told because it is the way in which we explain the world to ourselves, how we perceive it and how we understand the present”, he declared yesterday, at a press conference at the Rosarios Castellanos bookstore of the FCE, Aranzazu Nunezdirector of FILMAQ.

1-Great editorial presentations
There will be very prominent editorial presentations such as Foreign, by Guillermo Arriaga, who will be accompanied by the Peruvian Santiago Roncagliolo and the singer Cecilia Toussaint. Rocangliolo himself will talk about his most recent historical novel The year the devil was born.
2-A dream team of literary personalities
Other literary personalities that will be at the event are Guadalupe Nettel, Bernardo Fernández “Bef”, Alberto Chimal, Bernardo Esquinca, Claudina Domingo, Raquel Castro, María Baranda, Dahlia de la Cerda, José Luis Trueba, Myriam Moscona, Joselo Rangel and Yohana García They will be present at FILMAQ, together with the tiktoker Óscar Booker.
3-A lot of material for moviegoers
In terms of film and music, there will be screenings and talks on films such as The three deaths of Marisela Escobedowhich will have the comments of its director Carlos Perez Osorio. This film was qualified as the Best Documentary Feature Film at the award ceremony of the Ariel 2021.
the filmmaker Luis Tellez will talk about the work he did as animation supervisor of pinocchiotape for which Guillermo del Toro got the Oscar for Best Animated Film.
There will also be a selection of films from the Morelia International Film Festival and the Cut Out Fest (International Animation and Digital Art Festival). Likewise, attendees will be able to witness the Cycle of Mexican novels adapted to the cinema: Pedro Paramo/The Crescent Manby Juan Rulfo; Mariana, Mariana/ The battles in the desert, by Jose Emilio Pacheco; two crimesbased on the book by Jorge Ibargüengoitia, and A sweet smell of deathadaptation of the narrative work of Guillermo Arriaga.
4-High quality musical acts
Cecilia Toussaint, singer and actress, will celebrate her 45-year career with a concert. Attendees will also be able to see The Fury with Sonidera Lusta band originally from Oaxaca that mixes electronic cumbia with contemporary rhythms.
They will also have presence Mare Warning Lirikamigrant rapper, also from Oaxaca, and the one from corroncha sona quartet that plays cumbia, son jarocho, son cubano and has a speech against gender violence.
5-There will also be a lot of theater!
In theatrical matter, they will present the deadan adaptation of the Mexican novel Jorge Ibargüengoitiaand Intimate Killeran audio series of Bernardo Esquinca which later became a novel. Luis Martín Solís is in charge of both adaptations.
This event will have as its main venue the “Manuel Gómez Morin” Educational and Cultural Center of the State of Querétaro and two alternate venues: the Emerging Art Center of Querétaro and the Alameda Olympic Stadium.
