Madrid was the destination that Prime Video chose for the premiere of “Culpa Mía” to take place. The film that premiered a few hours ago on said platform is based on the book by Mercedes Ron, a writer of Argentine origin who is a Spanish national.
We traveled to Spain to be part of this moment and we had the opportunity to meet the young protagonists of this story. Nicole Wallace and Gabriel Guevara are just as captivating in person as their characters as Noah and Nick are in this film. The youth story that they star in exposes points of great importance in today’s world such as intrafamily violence. Just as it also has themes of great visual attraction such as street races and clandestine fights.
The love that they star in also has the forbidden. No one can know that they kiss! No one can know that they are in the dark of night! No one can know that they love each other! Because? Nick and Noah are brothers. Not by blood, but with the marriage of their parents they have become stepbrothers.
Marta Hazas and Iván Sánchez give life to Rafaella and William Leister, parents of Noah and Nick respectively in this fiction. In our conversation with them we realized that we all agree that our protagonists’ relationship is not bad, but Rafaella in character does not agree with us. Nick’s hobbies scare her. He is not the type of man he wants for his daughter, especially since his image is very similar to the past from which he flees so hard. Will they -the parents- be the villains of what could be a second movie? We don’t know yet, but the fans could make this possible.
Let’s remember then that “Culpa Mía” by Mercedes Ron was a literary success since it reached the hands of fans on Wattpad, there it gained popularity thanks to the “Culpabilidad” trilogy, where “Culpa Mía” starts as the main story. For this reason we believe that we could have two more tapes in the future. But again, this only time will tell.
On our way through Madrid, in addition to talking with Nicole Wallace, Gabriel Guevara, Marta Hazas and Iván Sánchez, we had the pleasure of meeting the director of the film, the writer of the book and the head of original productions at Amazon Studios in Spain: Domingo González, Mercedes Ron and María José Rodríguez. Everyone talks excited about the work they did and the achievements they achieved on screen.
After seeing the tape during the premiere in Madrid, we can also assure you that it is quite faithful to the book, thanks to the fact that the writer of the story also worked on the script of what we see on Amazon Prime Video screens.
