While we still don’t have any information on when we’ll be able to see ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ season 6 and final, we’ve come across A whole bomb in Gilead: Bruce Millercreator of the series, will stop being showrunner in this final batch.
In this way, we have a whole changing of the guard in dystopia with Eric Tuchman and Yahlin Chang replacing the executive producer as coshowrunners. Both have several years of Gilead experience as co-executive producers and writers.
Miller has been in charge of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ since its very beginning and, despite his layoff, he has written a couple of episodes for this latest season.
Prioritize ‘The Wills’
The reason for these changes is quite clear: Miller has been overtaken and he has preferred to focus all his efforts on developing ‘The Testaments’, the adaptation of the kind of sequel written by Margaret Atwood. A book that takes place a few years after the original novel and that shows us the panorama of Gilead (and Canada) at that time.
On the other hand, there are no other important changes in the final season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ at the moment. The season five finale saw June (Elisabeth Moss) and Serena (Yvonne Strahovsky) escaping increasingly hostile Toronto aboard the same train. In the cast we can wait for Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, OT Fagbenle, Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, and Sam Jaeger.
In Espinof | I started ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ hating Serena but now she is my favorite character
