The public is confused by the Daredevil canon within the MCU. For this reason, Marvel Studios wanted to explain it to help the viewer.
The costume designer for the series Hawk Eye, Michael Crowrecently had a conversation with gold derby. He spoke about the presence of Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) in the program Clint Barton Y Kate Bishopin addition to explaining if the Daredevil from Netflix is or is not canon within Marvel Studios After his first appearance in the UCM thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In the series of Hawk Eye we saw the Kingpin sporting a very iconic look from the comics. Do you remember? Hawaiian shirt and white suit, a classic. The costume designer for Marvel Studios and the UCM confirmed that this idea came from Vincent D’Onofrio himself and from Kevin Feig. He said it was a necessary step to take the Daredevil villain down several levels and fit him into the tone of the shared universe. On the other hand, Michael Crow himself acknowledged that it was not very clear if this Wilson Fisk was the same as the Netflix universe. A sentiment that was also shared by viewers.
“The idea for the costumes was Kevin Feige and Vincent D’Onofrio,” said the Marvel Studios costume designer who works at the MCU. “They definitely wanted to take Kingpin down a couple of levels. Based on what happened during the Gap, with Ronin and all the history that we didn’t really see, we wanted to scale it down and not be as polished as it was in the Daredevil series. In addition, throughout the filming I was not very clear if this was the same universe as Netflix. In fact, I still don’t know for sure.”
The arrival of the Multiverse has changed everything!
When journalist Joyce Eng of Gold Derby pointed out that the MCU was now working with the multiverse, Marvel’s costume designer agreed. However, he reaffirmed his opinion that he does not know if D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is the same as the Kingpin from the series. Daredevil.
“Now there is a Multiverse, yes,” the Marvel Studios worker admitted. “Maybe it’s a different version of the character, I don’t know. It was not clear to me as we worked. There were certain things that we brought over from the Daredevil series. His twins were important on that show. The cufflinks that he stole from his father. We recreated that in Hawkeye because it’s an important character point for Vincent D’Onofrio. Later in the reshoots, it became what Kate Bishop uses to finish him off at the end of the series.”
So, we still don’t know if the Daredevil from the UCM is really the same from the series. Marvel Studios will have to develop it soon, but Crow has dropped the presence of the Multiverse. Therefore, it is most likely that they have already discussed this concept within the study.
