One of the characters that have captivated MCU fans is Rocket Raccoon, the true protagonist of the Guardians of the Galaxy saga, according to James Gunn
In 2023 the end of an era arrives with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where the team we met in 2014 will have their last adventure, and who will close a stage in the MCU will be Rocket Racoon, according to director James Gunn.

In the Rocket Raccoon comics he debuted in the pages of Marvel Preview #7 (1976), and his leap to the big screen occurred in 2014 within Guardians of the Galaxy.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director James Gunn acknowledged that the one who has stolen the spotlight on his two previous Guardians of the Galaxy films is Rocket.
“Rocket has always been the secret lead in the Guardians movies… From the very beginning, he’s been ingrained in who he is as a character. I think he exemplifies many of the traits of all Guardians. They’ve had all these traumas, and that brings them together. I just think yours is more extreme than others”

Gunn, who will leave the ranks of Marvel Studios after GOTG Vol. 3, stated that the conclusion of Rocket’s story is one of the reasons why he agreed to return to La Casa de las Ideas.
“One of the reasons I came back to this movie was because I felt like I needed to tell Rocket’s story… It would have been very sad not to complete the trilogy for many reasons, but I feel very connected to Rocket. I feel like no one could tell the full story of him if it wasn’t for me.”
the end of an era
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits looks a little different these days.
Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill must rally his team around him to defend the universe and protect one of his own.
A mission that, if not completed successfully, could very possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will feature a cast consisting of Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, David Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Pom Klementieff as the voice of Mantis and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
This production is joined by Will Poulter in the role of Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as High Evolutionary, the villain of the plot.
Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
