A few hours ago we told you that the magazine Sight&Sound had unveiled his new list of the best movies ever. The one chosen by the critics was ‘Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles’, but it is that they also carried out another survey in which 480 renowned directors from all over the world have participated. In his case, they have opted for a monumental work of science fiction: ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.
The acclaimed film directed by stanley kubrick it had already risen to second place in the survey conducted among directors in 2012. On that occasion, 358 filmmakers voted, while this year the number has risen to 480, with Sight&Sound promising that all of them are prominent authors, but not yet revealing the identity of any of them.
For its part, second place went to ‘Citizen Kane’, a common title in this type of list, while third place went to ‘The Godfather’. I suspect that the fact that the movie Francis Ford Coppola is celebrating its 50th anniversary may have played a little in its favor.
In the case of directors, the first survey carried out by Sight & Sound dates back to 1992, when ‘Citizen Kane’ was elected. The movie of Orson Welles repeated in 2002, while the gold medal went to ‘Tales from Tokyo’ in 2012. Yasujiro Ozu it has fallen this year to fourth place in this year’s, also sharing position with ‘Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles’.
