Many thought that the duet of Madonna with Sam Smith, “Vulgar”, released on June 9, would have a spectacular debut on the charts, but it was not to be; however the song “Popular”a collaboration of the Queen of pop with The Weeknd and Playboy Cartiappears this week in the 53rd place of the Hot 100 of bill boardwith which the artist has managed to place themes in that chart in five different decades.
With that, Madonna equals the singer cher and enters the select group of soloists and bands with popular songs in five decades, although some of these have achieved it with new versions of their hits or re-releases of them. In the list stand out The Rolling Stones, Prince, Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne.
“Popular” Belongs to soundtrack from the series HBO Max “The idol”starring lily rose-depp and The Weeknd; the latter praised Madonna in a recent interview, commenting on their collaboration on this new song: “She is the definitive co-writer of this song, this album and this television show.” In one of the episodes of the series she is also heard “Like a prayer”hit of the singer in 1989.
