It’s been more than three years since ‘The Big Bang Theory’ came to an end, but the successful sitcom is still giving people something to talk about. Now it has been the publication of the book ‘The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story’ which has made the series grab headlines again, specifically because of the belief that Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco about what chuck lorrecreator of ‘The Big Bang Theory’, introduced more scenes of them kissing or having sex to tease them after their breakup in real life.
Actors’ suspicions and Chuck Lorre’s response
Cuoco notes that “suddenly we started noticing that there were extra scenes of our characters making out or going to bed“. They were both convinced that Lorre was doing it on purpose.as Galecki also points out “although it was organic for the characters, I think it was to annoy us“, but Lorre quickly made it clear that was not the case:
Not at all. Making a good series leaves no room to annoy anyone. There was nothing to mess with Kaley and Johnny. The goal was to make a great series and make every minute of every episode count. And that was the only goal. We don’t have that kind of freedom to risk a TV series where you put your heart and soul into messing with someone’s head. Nope.
In addition, Lorre had no problem highlighting the reason why they resorted to that resource moresince, in his opinion, it was something key for the series to work:
I think it’s charming that they think we have the mental capacity to mess with them. That Penny and Leonard were having a hard time maintaining a relationship was one of the reasons to keep seeing her, to see if they could make it. You encouraged them to find happiness.
After listening to Lorre’s explanation, Galecki does not hesitate to admit that “I guess it was pretty egotistical of us to think that. We were reading between the lines a little too much“.
