When we do an audiovisual balance of 2022 Nobody is going to shut up when it comes to talking about the Warner debacle. Zaslav has made the production company into little more than a joke, and there is no news about it that the general public takes seriously. the last one has been the resurrection of a franchise that, as much as some deny it, has long since lost its moment: Harry Potter.
In June 2016, JK Rowling returned to the saga that had made her famous (and, above all, a millionaire) with ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, a two-part play which later became one. In it we follow Albus Severus, the son of Harry and Ginny, Scorpius, the son of Draco, and Rose, the daughter of Ron and Hermione. Come on, they would need Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who, from what they have said on many occasions, they are not about to return.
Since ‘Fantastic Beasts’ has come to an end after the box office failure of its last part, Warner needs something to keep the saga alive. And if there is already a Harry Potter play… why not take advantage of it? for now, JK Rowling has not signed anything or given her approval, so it’s all theory, but if all the stars align and the actors make whatever problems they have to make (one of them, we imagine, is that the writer does not receive royalties for the film after its plummet), perhaps we have more Hogwarts in the future. Not likely, that’s true.
JK Rowling did talk to Warner about a TV series based on the saga, but it’s not good news for fans: he did it to prohibit the creation. Warner’s only real options right now are these addendums to the original story… or to remake the series, which isn’t even on the table. For now, it seems that the magician’s saga is in the ether, and there it will remain for a long time. If this comes out, it will take time, money and a lot of conversations to make it come to fruition. And, why not say it, a little magic.
