The story that Neil Gaiman gave us between 1988 and 1996 through 75 installments published by DC Comics and Vertigo was one of the most sought-after titles by film producers and studios to adapt to a film, but after a long process, Warner Bros. Television greenlit the production of a 10-episode series.
With Neil Gaiman overseeing this adaptation, The Sandman was announced in 2019 and its first season premiered in 2022, adapting the Preludes and Nocturnes and The Doll’s House arcs.
What is the status of The Sandman?
Despite the fact that The Sandman has great acceptance, Neil Gaiman himself acknowledges that these results are not enough for Netflix to give the green light to the second season, which could be canceled, in theory.
Because Sandman is a really expensive show. And for Netflix to release the money to let us make another season we have to perform incredibly well. So yes, we’ve been the top show in the world for the last two weeks. That still may not be enough. https://t.co/m7VusGL2rW

Not all would be lost for Dream and the Eternals
While the largest platform on the planet may not authorize a second season for The Sandman, this does not mean that the series is coming to an end.
Through his social networks, Neil Gaiman himself responded to his followers, and in case The Sandman does not have a second season on its current platform, the writer would seek to bring this series to other platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video , HBO Max and even offer it to Disney +, commercial rival of Warner Bros. Television.

The Sandman follows in the footsteps of Morpheus, the God of sleep, and his impact on the world, as he tries to right the cosmic and human mistakes he made during his existence.
The result is a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend seamlessly intertwine.
The first season of The Sandman is now available on the world’s most important digital platform.
