Netflix has put an end to the story of ‘Valeria’. The successful series based on the novels by Elísabet Benavent concludes her trajectory in this season 3, which its author defines as “the finishing touch” and “an ode to love”.
“It has been a super nice trip”
In 2014, the writer Elísabet Benavent published ‘In Valeria’s shoes’the first installment of the tetralogy that would end up becoming best-seller. Almost 10 years later, the story of Valeria and her friends has continued on the small screen thanks to Netflix.
In 2020, the platform launched season 1 of ‘Valeria’, with Diana Gómez, Paula Malia, Silma López and Teresa Riott putting themselves in the shoes of the inseparable group. About this third and last season, the author told Europa Press: “The third season is a golden brooch. It’s an ode to loveand to love from all possible points of view, not just romantic love“.
Benavent explained the success of ‘Valeria’ due to a new resurgence of the romantic genrein which he is adapting to the new times and increasingly exploring the idea of healthy love:
We creators are beginning to question a concept of love that we had learned, that we had embedded in our DNA, that we did not question and that carried concepts that were very toxic.
Something that has greatly influenced the final end of the series, although the changes have raised controversy among fans of the novels. Despite the disparity of opinions, Benavent is very satisfied with the journey of the series: “It has been a super pleasant trip, I have let myself go and I have been surrounded super well.”
