What could have been a lucky find turned into the return of what was not even wanted to be seen in painting. We refer to the expedition that Steve Andrews, a metal detector, made, in which he found an engagement ring among the waves. However, upon finding the owner of her, she responded in a way that left him stunned.
This happened on the island of Jersey, earlier this year, after Steve, very excited about bringing joy back to its owner after finding the object, posted on the Facebook group “Metal Detecting and Lost Rings of Jersey” a photograph of the ring, with the intention that it be disseminated massively and thus be able to locate the owner.
After several months of waiting and users sharing the photo in the hope of finding the owner of the ring, finally, last September, a woman contacted Steve and claimed to be the owner of the ring. However, she asked him to please return it to the sea, as she never wanted to see it again.
Of course, this response greatly surprised Steve, but what he did not know was that there was a sad story behind this comment. Turns out the woman had thrown the ring into the sea after going through a stormy divorce and never wanted to hear from it again, so after Steve found it with his metal detector, all she asked was that he take care of it. throw it into the sea.
These types of anecdotes are not very common for Steve Andrews, who is used to making people happy by giving them their lost objects. However, this time the same result was not obtained and it was in his same search publication in which the man stated that he will return the ring to the sea as soon as it is possible to return to the place.
It is very common for objects like these to be found on the beaches. In fact, on one occasion, Steve found the alliance that a couple of lovers lost in the middle of their honeymoon after they went swimming in the sea.
When we got out of the water, I instinctively grabbed my phone, wallet, and shoes, completely forgetting about my wedding ring. When we got back to the car I realized he wasn’t there. My heart sank, I assumed that the ring would be lost forever.
The newlyweds told what happened to the hotel doorman, who was in charge of calling Steve. After knowing the approximate place where the ring was lost, the man set out to search for it with his detector until he managed to locate it. Of course, the couple was very grateful and happy. That is why the anecdote of the woman who threw her ring into the sea so as not to see it again surprised her own and others.
