This year Yoshihiro Togashi He gave us great joy when he announced that he was working on new episodes of ‘Hunter x Hunter’. Throughout its publication history, the manga has gone through several indefinite hiatuses due to its creator’s poor health, breaking its own record with the hiatus that began in 2018.
Finally, Togashi has managed little by little to get several chapters out and in October the publication of the manga was resumed, although the joy has not lasted for long.
no return announced
The manga has reached chapter 400 in the most recent issue of the Weekly Shōnen Jump, and to celebrate it, the series has released a small video that shows us the very long journey of the series. But After ten weeks of publication, ‘Hunter x Hunter’ is paralyzed again so that Togashi can rest and recover.
Of course, although the exact return date has not yet been confirmed, the publisher Shueisha has confirmed that ‘Hunter x Hunter’ is definitely still running and that they are going to change the format in which the manga is published.
The editorial promises that the hiatus this time will not be so long and that they are working on a solution that allows Togashi to work comfortably taking care of his health. It has not been confirmed if indeed ‘Hunter x Hunter’ will become monthly, but for now it seems that the manga will stop publishing in a weekly format.
The truth is that perhaps a monthly format would be the most appropriate for ‘Hunter x Hunter’, although the manga will continue to be published in Weekly Shonen Jump, since that way Togashi would have more time to work on the chapters and could have more pages in reserve in case he needs to take a break again.
In the meantime, Shueisha has also pledged to support Togashi until he finishes his manga. So even if we have to wait to read it, the manga of ‘Hunter x Hunter‘ will continue to be published as long as its creator wants to work on it.
