Since his appearance in the first episode of ‘The Mandalorian’, the entire world surrendered at the feet of Grogu, whom we then called “Baby Yoda”. In fact, much of the new ‘Star wars’ merchandising was based on objects with their faces or shapes: backpacks, pencil cases, t-shirts, dolls, key chains, slippers, pajamas and even flower pots.
Anyone would say that the entire franchise is now on the shoulders of one small character, right? Well, according to Jon Favreauit seems that not… At least, for now.
does not give yoda
Interviewed by Variety, the creator of ‘The mandalorian’ affirmed that he had no intention of taking Grogu out in future films of the saga (although really, and as we all know, it doesn’t depend on him). And without him, Din Djarin, Pedro Pascal for friends, will not come out either.
When you have a set of characters and stories that people connect with, there’s always an opportunity to cross media in different areas. Marvel does it very effectively. We have to think about where we should spend our time and what is the appetite of the audience. Keeping the stories we’re telling is a full-time job: TV has a very different pace and preparation than film.
But on television, as many of you will remember, the characters have crossed paths: in fact, there are those who consider ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ as another half season of ‘The Mandalorian’, and they are not wrong: after all, the cliffhanger at the end of the season was solved in the last episodes of that other series. The reason is simple: “We couldn’t do a hard reset. It’s going to be interesting to see how people who haven’t seen ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ take it.” We’ll find out on March 1 with the season 3 premiere!
