‘Attack the titans’ (shingeki no kyojin‘) was the first manga series of Hajime Isayama, and considering the overwhelming success that both the manga and the anime have had, it must be said that it has entered the industry through the front door.
The manga reached its final chapter in 2021, and although the anime still has a few episodes left to resolve the outcome, ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ has become one of the most controversial series precisely because of its ending, and the thing got to such a point that Isayama has ended up apologizing for him.
And now that?
Despite the ending, which everyone may or may not like, ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ It is still a very powerful and intense manga that has tested Isayama’s skills as an author, so many fans are looking forward to his new work.
Well, for those who were wanting to know if the mangaka is already preparing a new story, Isayama has thrown a jug of cold water on them during Anime NYC. When asked by a fan about his future projects, the mangaka admitted that he has no intention of creating any more manga, thus ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ would be his first and only foray into the industry.
The manga industry, with its demanding schedules and grueling deadlines, can be downright crazy for those who work in it, so between this and the very negative reaction from many fans, Isayama may want to stay as far away as possible. And what will become of his future then? Well He hasn’t confirmed anything concrete, but years ago Isayama said he was looking into various possible careers.
“I have a project in mind,” Isayama admitted in 2019. “Once ‘Shingeki no Kyojin’ is over and I’ve managed to hurt everyone, I’d like to open a spa.”
