If we are waiting for the moment when Batman sticks with Goku… unfortunately we are going to have to keep sitting and waiting to see if the crossover arrives at some point.
What did happen years ago was a small reference to the Dark Knight in ‘Dragon Ball Z’although it was almost seen and not seen.
Ride in the Batmobile
In the anime of ‘Dragon Ball’ several very curious Easter eggs have been sneaked, and even the own Akira Toriyama has ever appeared with his own almighty avatar. Batman’s cameo was a little more discreet, but we could see it in Chapter 26 of ‘Dragon Ball Z’.
In this part of the story we had Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan fighting against Nappa, who has started destroying various Earth cities for fun to kill time. In the chapter we can see several sequences from different places, and in one of them: we have the batmobile.
In order to fit in a little better with the art direction of the rest of the anime and its color palettes, the color of the car was changed to an orange-red, but the model of the car is still appreciated.
The “culprit” of the easter egg was Nishio Daisuke, the animation director of ‘Dragon Ball Z’, who was also a big fan of Batman back in 1989 and decided to sneak in this little reference with Batman walking through the world of Goku. Later would come ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ to finish catapulting the popularity of the Dark Knight on television, but unfortunately we are still waiting for a crossover with more chicha like the one that Goku and Luffy had at the time.
