The singer Thalía confessed that in addition to admiring David Summers, the leader and vocalist of “Hombres G”, this artist was her platonic love during her adolescence, so now meeting him and working with him is very exciting for her.
“Every time he texts me or we talk, I scream,” recognized the singer.
As he told El País this week, on the occasion of the docuseries and his new album, both titled ‘Thalia’s Mixtape: The Soundtrack of my life’: “It’s like it came out of the posters in my bedroom as a teenager. I’m excited because it was my first crush. I mean, it’s David Summers, damn it.”
The series that will premiere has three episodes in which the interpreter of ‘Arrasando’ reviews the songs and bands that marked her adolescence and youth, especially in the rock genre in Spanish.
Thalía told in the interview that creating the album and the series arose in 2019 when she heard ‘Give me back my girl’
“In the summer of 2019, while I was traveling in my car, I heard ‘Give me back my girl’ and it started this dream in my head: I wanted to see David Summers wrecking that white Ford Fiesta and setting that yellow jumper on fire.”recounted.
The dream of the eternal ‘Marimar’ was achieved as David Summers joined the list of artists who do duets with her on her new album.
“When I contacted him (David) and started talking to him, I explained the project to him. and that I wanted to be the bridge between generations and that we amplify the whole message. When He said yes, I hung up and started screaming, I went crazy”Thalia revealed.
Also, in another interview with Vanity Fair, the artist detailed her work is about “a fan project, I am the fan looking for them, the fan asking them to explain to me what was behind each song, how the lyrics came about and hopefully even sing those songs with them.”
David Summers allowed him to make a change to his song
Something very important for Thalía is that her “platonic love” allowed her to make a small change in the lyrics of ‘Give me back my girl’. The original lyrics say ‘I’m going to take revenge on that fagot*’, but she substituted it.
“I explained to David that I am the most fag*, the great ally of the LGTB community, I have always been in all my projects, in all my songs, I have always been supporting the community. I wanted this project to be able to reach all audiences without there being a little bit of censorship of something”, he explained and ruled that he allowed him to make the change.
