Why is Superman Day celebrated on June 12?
If you remember, the cover of Action Comics #1 is dated June 1938, although its release dates back to May of that same year. Why was June 12 chosen as Superman Day?
This idea came thanks to DC Entertainment. Within the framework of the 75th anniversary of Superman, celebrated in 2013, they sought to take advantage of “The Diamond Jubilee” of the first comic book superhero.
In addition to the 75 years of Superman, promotion was also given to the premiere of Man of Steel, a film directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill.
A celebration with all of the law
This initiative made the leap to a bill in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. Declaring from the year 2013 that on June 12 of each year Superman Day is commemorated.
With this new holiday, the Ohio authorities pay a well-deserved tribute to Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the creators of the Man of Steel, who lived in Cleveland.
As a result, Last Son of Krypton fans around the world commemorate this day, either by wearing a garment with the Man of Tomorrow logo, promoting the reading of its different comics.
