If Doomwar is confirmed to be the basis for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Doctor Doom could debut in the MCU before the Fantastic Four.
With the little that is still known about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and what was seen in the trailer, it is very likely that it will follow the events of the Doomwar miniseries, which would also mean that Doctor Doom arrives in the MCU even before his Fantastic archrivals. Four.
Doomwar is a 2010 six-issue miniseries written by Jonathan Maberry and illustrated by John Romita Jr., Will Conrad and Scot Eaton. In the regular series of Black Panther from 2008, we see the beginning of the events that lead to Doomwar, in fact, the last two numbers of that title constitute the so-called “Prelude to Doomwar”.

In the Doomwar story, Doctor Doom creates the splinter group the Desturi, Wakandan separatists who want their nation to turn away from Western civilization again. However, Doom’s evil plan has nothing to do with radical nationalism, but with the control of Vibranium, a metal that is only found in Wakanda and to which the villain has found mystical properties that increase his control over magic.

Shortly before these events, T’Challa suffered an assassination attempt (by Doom and other villains) that forced him to step down from the Black Panther mantle, for which his sister Shuri was forced to take over. She blamed Namor for the attack in the first place, so she confronts him before discovering that it is actually Doom’s fault.
With the Desturi as a screen, Victor von Doom seizes control of Wakanda and its Vibranium stockpile, while the current queen, Storm, is on trial for murder. Against this background, the Black Panther / Shuri, T’Challa and the Dora Milaje join several Marvel heroes to take back their kingdom.
Similarities of Doomwar with the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer
Basically, the similarities occur in the following situations:
The absent king: in the comic, first by losing his powers and later by being overthrown; in the MCU, by death.
The harassed queen: in the comics Storm is arrested, in Wakanda Forever it seems that it will be Ramonda, who must lead a nation. Or as the review reads: “Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from the world powers that intervene after the death of King T’Challa.
A new Black Panther: in the comics it is Shuri, so whoever appears at the end of the trailer is surely her.
The arrival of Namor: in the comics Shuri blames him for the attack on her brother, in Wakanda Forever the origin of the confrontation has yet to be discovered. Although there are other confrontations between Namor and Black Panther (even in Avengers vs X-Men we see the flood of Wakanda), in this case the “misunderstanding” between Shuiri and Namor belongs to the narrative arc that leads to Doomwar.
So, is it possible that at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever we will see the appearance of Docotor Doom in the MCU? If they stick to the comics, so be it. And if not, it is possible that Marvel fans will begin to create a new myth with a disappointing ending like the expected and non-existent Mephisto from WandaVision.
