In a recent interview, the actor Sir Patrick Stewart talked about his future Professor X After his surprise appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Confirming the end point for his adventure as Jean-Luc Picard in the third season of Star Trek: PicardStewart kept the door open for more appearances as Charles Xavier in the future.
Charles Xavier? Yes. There may be. You know, the entire X-Men comic series is so big, so vast, that there might be a chance for it to come back. We’ll see.
Stewart also admitted that he needed to read up on Marvel Comics to prepare for the film and had to piece together a lot of what he saw at the premiere, especially hearing audience reaction to certain plot points. It was lovely for him to see the audience get so involved with the film, especially knowing the context of everything that happens with each new character after they catch up with the source material.
Well, I needed to do a lot of reading and looking at comics and stuff like that. I’ve never been that comic book person. And even as a child, he used to read books instead of comics. It was unknown, and in fact, a lot of what I saw on Monday night, I had to work hard to connect these things. Because you could hear that the audience knew exactly what the actors’ characters were referring to. You remember the laughter when an actor just mumbled a line and the audience laughed, because they knew what the context was and they knew what the history of that expression was. And I found it delightful, when an audience becomes part of the cinematic experience.
