This romance is not what it seems
‘My Happy Marriage’ began to be published as light novels written by Akumi Agitogi and drawn by Tsuhiko Tsukioka and that already have six volumes. The story is set in the middle of the 19th century, in the Meiji Restoration era, and its protagonist is a very unhappy young woman who has spent her whole life working as a maid for her stepmother.
When Miyo Samori reaches marriageable age, is betrothed to Kiyoka Kudō, a commander so cold that he has managed to get his former fiancées on the run in just three days. Miyo has already resigned herself to a very unhappy existence, but she ends up discovering that her future husband is not the monster she expected.
‘My Happy Marriage’ had a live action film adaptation that was released this year, and the July 5th the anime premieres in Netflix. The number of episodes has not yet been confirmed, but taking into account the previous releases on the platform, it is possible that the season will be around twelve episodes.
Kinema Citrusthe studio behind ‘Made in Abyss’, is in charge of the anime adaptation, with Takehiro Kubota as director, Takao Abo in charge of the storyboards, scripts by Ami Satō, Takahito Ōnishi and Momoka Toyoda and character designs by Shōko Yasuda.
