Jaafar Jackson, 26, will be in charge of playing his uncle Michael Jackson in the biographical film about the singer that will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and that will be distributed by the company lionsgate.
Fuqua himself shared on his Twitter account instagram a black and white photograph that shows Jaafar in front of some mirrors, characterized as Pop’s king. The message he wrote next to the image was: “Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael, the cinematic event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop. Coming soon.”
John Logan is writing the script for the film, which will begin shooting this year. The project has the approval of the family of michael jackson, and his mother, Katherine, commented: “Jaafar embodies my son. It’s wonderful to see him continue the legacy of the Jacksons in artists and performers.” The 26-year-old is the son of Jermaine Jackson, one of the singer’s brothers who died in 2009 due to cardiac arrest due to drug poisoning.
