Amazon Prime has already released the first three chapters of the long-awaited third season of TheBoys. And its showrunner has spoken of the shocking cameo from the first episode (Spoiler alert)
The highly anticipated third season of TheBoys. The adaptation of the comic series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, has already been released on Amazon Prime. And as promised, it is being even more crazy and wild than the previous ones. However, one of the moments that has perhaps most impacted fans is the cameo of one of the stars of Marvel, and that was presented to the UCM, in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, and it is none other than the actress Charlize Theron.
At the beginning of chapter one, Revenge, we can see the premiere of the movie that the seven were shooting. During one of the scenes we see that they face the big bad of the movie, Stormfront / Liberty. Which they have turned into a villain after the events of the previous season, obviously with the character killed, is played in Dawn of the Seven, by Charlize Theron! actress who plays Clea, the sorceress supreme of the dark dimension, and whose importance in the MCU we will probably see in the Doctor Strange trequel.
During the series premiere, showrunner Eric Kripke spoke to Variety about this cameo and this is what he had to say:
“Like most of the cameos on our show, it follows the rigorous and strict screening process of who returns Seth Rogen’s phone calls”Kripke said. “And to his immense and everlasting credit, he had just done ‘Almost Impossible’ with Seth, and to his incredible credit, he agreed to come and help us. I actually feel kind of bad about it, because I’m sure he put her up like, ‘Hey, do us a favor, get on camera and it’s a cameo.’
Then the next call is our costume designer, ‘OK, you have to come in and we have to design this super suit.’ He shows up on a big day of shooting with various camera crews and everything. But for her it was such an immensely big sport and it’s so funny. I mean, obviously she’s into comedies, but to see her work up close and personal, the level at which she engages in the most ridiculous dialogue anyone has ever said, is absurd. The heart and soul that she delivers it with is so funny and impressive. We were very lucky to have her.”
Kripke felt very lucky to have the actress
As fate would have it, Kripke says it was just a lucky accident that Theron also has a cameo as Marvel’s Sorceress Supreme, at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbecause that was not the reason Kripke and Rogen thought of his cameo for The Boys.
“I didn’t know this Doctor Strange thing was happening. My guess is that we asked him before.”Kripke said. “But I was in the theater watching ‘Doctor Strange’ with my kids and then this cameo came on and I was like, ‘Yeah!’ Anything we can do to draw a line between us and Marvel is a good day.”
Obviously Kripke could not know that Theron was going to appear in the sequel to Doctor Strange, due to the strict confidentiality agreements that Marvel stars sign, but regardless of whether the cameo of the actress happened before or after, it is clear that she loves superhero movies, you have to remember that she played a superhero in the movie Hancock alongside Will Smith, and has acknowledged that he would love to participate in a sequel.
