One of the most important groups that have put Mexican music very high, Mariachi Heritage of Mexico, have decided to pay a well-deserved tribute to the late salsa singer Héctor Lavoeperhaps one of the most important that has ever existed, in addition to having been one of the main figures of the greats of salsa in fania. The theme they play is Scandal.
With only the trumpet and in a very simple way, Mariachi Heritage of Mexico makes a magical and sublime interpretation of the theme that popularized Hector Lavoe. The Latin Grammy nominees dressed in their most elegant charro suits and, in this simple staging but loaded with great musical quality, they made it clear that Scandal in mariachi version sounds incredible.
“We decided to combine different styles of Latin music to our version, we are inspired by FANIA and by the Latin music created in New York in the 70’s…“, said marco villela vocalist of the group. The same one that left everyone with their jaws on the floor for this excellent, unpretentious and very heartfelt interpretation of Hector Lavoe.
In addition, the video clip has aerial shots of the city of New York and it sets, just like lavoe, in a bar to later give way to the masterful interpretation of metals. Let us remember that in the mariachi usually only trumpet is used and there are clearly more sounds that denote impeccable musical production.
Mariachi Heritage of Mexico is right now in the middle of a tour as part of the promotion of his latest record material entitled heirs. The disc contains tributes to a variety of great composers such as Juan Gabriel, Manzanero, Sinatra, Rubén Fuentes and Cuco Sánchez, in addition to Héctor Lavoe.
“Scandal” It’s one of the songs on the album. marco villelavocalist and trumpeter of the group, believes that interpreting Héctor Lavoe is a way of: “Maintaining the bolero” and thus not letting the genre get lost.
This opens the vanguard in the spectrum of Mexican music and is an example for the new generations of musicians, producers and composers. The video clip for “Escándalo” was recorded in New York Cityafter the presentation of gave Mariachi Heritage of Mexico at The Public Theater in Manhattan.
The arrangements are by one of the most important musicians in mariachi music, Rigoberto Alfaro so that the fundamental elements of the mariachi would not be lost along the way. Quite a challenge considering that, like salsa, mariachi has multiple instruments and “colors” that make them sound so particular.
