Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants is a list that each year recognizes the best restaurants in Latin America in a ranking, as well as granting different special prizes to those chefs and characters who are making a difference in the industry. In this edition, the list was made up of restaurants from 24 cities in the region, distributed among Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Argentina, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay and Chile.
For this edition, the Mexican talent was once again present, since in this celebration, Mexico managed to stand out in this coveted list; at No.7, “Pujol” in Mexico City at No.16 “Fauna” in Valle de Guadalupe at No.17, “Le Chique” in Quintana Roo, at No.18, “Villa Torel” in Ensenada, No.23, “Sud 777” in CDMX, No.28, “Máximo Bistrot” in CDMX, No.29, “Arca” in Quintana Roo, No.34, “Pangea” in Monterrey, No.37, “ Rosetta” in CDMX, No.41, “Alcalde” in Guadalajara, No.42, “La Docena” in CDMX and No.43, “Quintonil” in CDMX, were the award-winning Mexican kitchens during the night.
The position of honor remained in “Central” of Lima, Peru who led with position No.1 within the ranking.
Other special awards were given during this celebration, the Estrella Damn Chefs’ Choice Award went to Jonathan Gómez Luna from Quintana Roo, Latin America’s Best Pastry Chef Award to Pía Salazar from Ecuador; Highest News Entry Award, “Fauna” in Valle de Guadalupe; Highest Climber Award, “Maito” in Panama; The Best Restaurant in Mexico, “Pujol” in CDMX; Beronia Latin America’s Best Sommelier was won by Pablo Rivero of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Gin Mare Art of Hospitality, “Oteque” in Rio de Janeiro; American Express One to Watch took “Ancestral” from La Paz, Bolivia; Flor de Caña Sustainable Restaurant, “Diacá” from Guatemala and Icon Award Rafael Rincón.
