Someday The Telecinco debacle will be studied at universities: How is it possible that in the face of a crisis caused by your inaction, your reaction is to offer more of the same? After the failure of competitive reality shows such as ‘Secret Story’ or ‘Nightmare in Paradise’, the channel seems to have focused more on flirting, hoping to continue the relative -increasingly relative- success of ‘The Island of Temptations’. The result: the biggest failure of a reality show in its history.
What a big piece of Jesús Vázquez, who has said time and time again that if it were up to him he would retire with this program, and he has shown once again the absolute disconnection between Mediaset and its target audience, the one that desperately tries to recapture but that already seems to be on other things. This week, ‘For Life: The Bachelorette’ audience has dropped to 6.9%, which translates into just 635,000 viewers. Let’s remember that fifteen years ago ‘This kitchen is hell’ was withdrawn from the air because it was considered a failure… with more than two million viewers and a 20% share.
It was not the only trick that the chain kept to try to remodel itself: two contests, two, were released yesterday, with uneven results: ’25 words’ managed to stand up to Antena 3 with 11.5% (1,110,000 viewers) but the one presented by Ion Aramendi, ‘Reaction in chain’, lost against the unbeatable ‘Pasapalabra’ with 7.5% and it even worsened the data that ‘Save me’ did at that time.
Telecinco is a degreased factory, without a shaft, which bases its ideas on copying Mediaset Italia, like not being able to see that we are two very different countries and that the romantic drama mixed with the cowardice in the choice of the tone of ‘For a lifetime: The bachelorette’ cannot be liked here. And now, with the recorded program in which they have spent a fortune, what? To ostracism, as happened with ‘Coffee with the aroma of a woman’? To broadcast the entire season, big donkey go or not go? Or perhaps, in a suicidal movement, to approve three more seasons because totally, and for that matter, we commit suicide at ease? Oh, Telecinco, what you have been and what you are.
