One of the great advantages of streaming is the immediacy with which series reach everywhere. Yes, we continue to suffer small delays with some titles, but what has happened in the case of ‘Halo: The series’ in Spain is totally unexpected, since its launch in our country has taken place directly in the physical market.
Why has it been released like this in Spain?
The ambitious science fiction series It was released on sale this Thursday, November 24, both on Blu-ray and on DVD -although not in UHD, a format in which it is for sale in other countries-. For times it is stable that it is already in physical format, since it premiered in the United States in March and the full season was already available in May, but what about in Spain?
In our country I am very afraid that ‘Halo: The series’ has been one of the victims of the delays due to the arrival of SkyShowtime in Spain. This streaming platform, the result of the union of Paramount+ and Peacockwas scheduled to launch in our country for this same 2022, but finally we will have to wait until 2023. Curiously, in Portugal they can access it since last October 25.
That has led ‘Halo: The Series’ to be one of the many titles that are in a kind of limbo -another one is ‘Tulsa King’, the long-awaited series starring Sylvester Stallone-. Obviously, they are not going to sell their rights to another platform, but the ones who lose out because of it are the viewers, who I doubt there are many who will want to blindly buy this adaptation of the popular video game for Xbox. Especially if we take into account that one of its creators already made it clear months ago that he was not happy with the result…
