It has been a long —very long— season since rumors and initial official statements began to surface about the return of the most famous archaeologist of the seventh art in what will be his fifth feature film. In fact, if we pull from the newspaper library, the first information about ‘Indiana Jones 5’ dates from 13 or 14 years ago; but now, in the middle of 2022, we are finally about to see Harrison Ford putting on his hat and brandishing his whip.
Back to the ring
During the Lucasfilm conference that took place within the framework of the Star Wars Celebration, Ford himself made an appearance together with the legendary John Williams to announce that Indy’s new adventure will be released on June 30, 2023. A date quite far from the original plan truncated by the pandemic, which placed its launch in July 2020, but which, equally, tastes like glory.
Along with the good news, the people of Disney have shared the first official image of the feature film; a “first look” of a lifetime in which the silhouette of the protagonist can be seen, flashlight in hand, crossing a bridge that seems to be quite flimsy —a classic— and backlit by a golden fountain. Brief, but enough to make the bug bite.
‘Indiana Jones 5’ will be directed by James Mangoldresponsible for titles such as ‘Logan’ or ‘Le Mans 66’, will include names such as Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas or Toby Jones and, except for last minute surprises, everything seems to indicate that it will plunge Dr. Jones into a time travel It will take you to different eras of history. I don’t know about you, but I want it for yesterday.
