Paramount Pictures
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves takes us on a roller coaster of emotions that marks the great start of a promising franchise. We share our review and criticism of this great premiere.

Paramount Pictures
Dungeons and Dragons is one of the most popular role-playing games since 1974. It began to gain popularity not only because of the different editions of the game, but also because of the animated series from the 80’s, produced by the Marvel Comics television division.
After five decades of existence in the role-playing landscape, as well as an unsuccessful trilogy, in 2023 filmmakers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein deliver Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Edgin Darvis (Chris Pine, Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman), a former harpist, as well as his friend and accomplice Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez, Letty Ortiz in Fast and the Furious) escape from prison to meet Forge FitzWilliam (Hugh Grant, Charles in Four Weddings and a Funeral) a former ally, who betrays Edgin and Holga for a relic.
Now the pair of ex-cons form a team with the sorcerer Simon (Justice Smith, Chester in the Generations series) and a thieving mystic named Doric (Sophia lillis, Beverley marsh in ITEM) to get revenge on Fitzwilliam, as well as rescue Edgin’s daughter from the influence of Forge and Sofina a red witch (Daisy Head, Judy talbot in the series Sandman).
Emotion from the first moment

Paramount Pictures
If you know what this game is about, probably the first moments are not the best. But as the tape progresses, the story is in charge of catching the viewer, by presenting situations that, incredible as it may seem, are not so predictable.
Magic takes an important part in Dungeons and Dragons, being an element that surprises the protagonists themselves. Those who also earn the sympathy of the public, who at all times will remain attentive to each step that Edgin and his team take throughout Neverwinter.

Paramount Pictures
One of the key points that works in this film is the way in which each of the members of Edgin’s team recognizes their defects over their virtues. And the way in which everyone deals with these details to get ahead of their missions.
Without falling into spoilers, in the climactic part of the film there is a nod to the animated series of the 80’s. Fans of this cartoon will love it.
SMASH verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Paramount Pictures
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves becomes a pleasant surprise, which captivates locals and strangers, which little by little involves us in its framework.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein found success in elements where previous films failed. This tape fails to discover the black thread and that makes it more authentic.

Paramount Pictures
