“I’m looking forward to getting back in the car this weekend. I’ve been in Milton Keynes (England, where his team is based) since the Spanish Grand Prix, working hard with my team; and we’ve managed to put in a good job and we had very constructive conversations,” said the 33-year-old from Guadalajara in his native Guadalajara, Jalisco.
The Mexican is currently second in the Drivers’ Championship, 53 points behind the 170 with which his teammate leads the Dutchman Max Verstappen, who two Sundays ago added his fifth victory of the year at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
“I know what I have to do to recover the form in which I am capable of being; and as a team we know how to take the car to the window in which I can drive in the best way”, explained “Checo”, with six victories ( two of them this year) and 30 podiums in the premier class.
“Going through moments like these, it’s more important than ever to work together as a team; so we’ll support each other to push together, in search of victory in Canada,” said Pérez, who, curiously, the only time he got on the Drawer in Montreal was with a Sauber, in 2012: when he finished third.
“I have a fantastic car; and it’s always great to get behind the wheel in it; I have to be extremely consistent in Montreal and sign a full weekend,” said the Red Bull Mexican with a view to the eighth World Cup Grand Prix.
