‘Bambi’ is possibly one of the saddest Disney movies because if Mufasa’s death in ‘The Lion King’ marked us for decades, that of Bambi’s mother is not far behind either. And if we were able to relive Mufasa again in leading CGI a few years ago, now ‘Bambi’ it also joins the very long list of live-action remakes that Disney has in the works.
Returning to the forest (but in CGI)
We are still in the throes of ‘The Little Mermaid’ starring Halle Bailey, and we already know that we have ahead of us a remake of ‘Moana’, another of ‘Hercules’, and also that of ‘Lilo and Stitch’… But what is starring forest animals is not a problem, and the 1942 film ‘Bambi’ it will also have a “modernized” version.
It’s a curious choice for a remake, because even though it’s one of the great Disney animation classics It has neither great musical numbers nor is it a great adventure movie. It is a rather calm film in which a little deer grows into an adult and tries to deal with the death of his mother, and which according to Quentin Tarantino has traumatized children for decades with the very visceral way in which it was shot to be a “children’s movie”.
Although in this case, the remake of ‘Bambi’ will have that hyper realistic CGI that we have been seeing since ‘The Lion King’. The project is still very much in its infancy, but Disney would have already signed up to direct it to Sarah Polley, Oscar winner for ‘Ellas habla’.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the script will be in charge Micah Fitzwerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, who already worked on ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ for Disney along with Linda Woolverton. The remake of ‘Bambi’ It has been playing at Disney for some time now and has changed its creative team several times… For now there is no release date, but seeing that the writers’ strike is taking away the release calendar, we still have a few years of wait to see it.
