The musician Andrew Lloyd Webber74, announced that he has written the anthem that will be heard during the king’s coronation Charles IIIwhich will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.
The piece will have adaptations of Psalm 98 in its lyrics and was adapted for both the organist and the choir that will be present at the ceremony. Additionally, the music that will be heard at the coronation will feature old and new compositions in order to fuse elements that reflect the history of Great Britain. Thus, there will be works by authors such as Sarah Class, nigel hesse, Paul Mealor, Tarik O’Regan, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J Thompson, Judith Weir, roderick williams and debbie wiseman.
The hymn written by Lloyd Webber (famous for being the author of musical theater works such as “The phantom of the opera”, “Avoid” and “Cats”) is one of 12 musical pieces that the king Charles III asked for the event. In a statement distributed by the Buckingham Palace the artist stated: “I hope my anthem reflects this jubilant occasion.”
