“It is not lost on me that a lot of people died, that a lot of people lost their lives and suffered,” he added.
At 50, this musician, producer and stylist becomes the second black to assume the artistic direction of the luxury brand’s men’s collectionsafter Virgil Abloh, who died in November 2021.
“My naming is a tribute” to Abloh, Williams said.
It is the first time that a pop musician, without professional training in the world of fashion, has assumed a position of this importance in one of the main world brands.
“I think these companies are waking up, slowly but surely, I think they understand that we have a special touch, and something really interesting to offer,” Williams explained.
