The career of the Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana is analyzed in the film “Carlos”a documentary that will be distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Classics. Director rudy valdez began working last year on the project, which has already been completed but does not yet have a release date.
Through many interviews, photos and videos “Carlos” will show the origins of the artist since he discovered his talent on the guitar as a teenager, going through his performance at the legendary Woodstock concert, his influence on rock in San Francisco and his successful career worldwide, which was rewarded with many prizes grammy for the 1999 album Supernatural. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are the producers of the film, through their company imagine.
It’s a statement rudy valdez expressed his emotion for having found a company that distributes this work, with which he seeks to highlight the musician’s career as much as possible: “I feel honored to tell the story of Carlos Santana as director. He is a true pioneer who has meant a lot to so many people. My hope is that this film is a celebration of a life defined by humanity. It was incredibly powerful to see someone who looks like me push the boundaries and expectations the world had placed on him as a Mexican immigrant and person of color, and I’m excited to tell this story to the world.”
