The ‘Montecristo’ series premiered on April 14 exclusively through the ViX+ platform. The project starring William Levy is based on the story of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ and according to the actor it was an acting and personal challenge.
In ‘Montecristo’, the Cuban heartthrob not only participated as the main character, but also He was also executive producer of the miniseries which has six episodes adapted to the classic world literature novel.
“I was fortunate to be as much as possible in the entire adaptation. At that time I was recording (the telenovela) Café con aroma de mujer in Colombia”, he said in an exclusive interview with People en Español.
“It was a production of a lot of money, a lot of sacrifice, a lot of love”Levy assured the magazine.
Likewise, the actor commented that playing Alejandro Montecristo, the leading role, was a challenge and stated: “He’s the most complex character I’ve ever done in my career.”
As an executive producer, he said: “(For) people who know the story of (The Count of) Monte Cristo, not much can be anticipated. What I can (I can say) is that We put together the skeleton of Monte Cristo and we wrap it up in another way because it is based on modern times, so obviously many things change in history”.
Levy announced that the end of the story was modified for knowledgeable people “don’t expect what you already know”.
In the interview, he was in charge of giving a brief synopsis of what the series is so that viewers are interested and go see his new work.
“He is a young man who, in this case —in the adaptation that we made— He is a young man who was born and raised in Cuba, under communism. A very powerful family from Spain goes to Cuba to (establish) a hotel company and (my character) falls in love with the daughter of the family. They have an affair and the family, upon finding out, blames him for a murder he did not commit. He manages to meet someone in jail who later ends up inheriting a fortune and with that fortune he escapes from prison (to) carry out his revenge”, told the Cuban heartthrob.
