Nine years after Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket and company landed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the hands of James Gunn in the fantastic ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, the former student of the Troma has closed the perfect trilogy with a ‘Vol. 3’ more fun, more spectacular and, above all, more emotional never.
Now that we have dried our tears and have digested its bittersweet closing with a farewell flavor, it is the perfect moment for, as usual, review what happens in the post-credit scenes of a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ that opens new horizons for the supergroup of space antiheroes.
Be careful, from this moment on there are spoilers.
the new guardians
After the climax of the film and the separation of the official formation of the teamwith Peter traveling to Earth to visit his grandfather, Mantis deciding to travel solo to find herself, and Nebula and Drax staying on Wisdom to care for their new and perfectly imperfect society, Guardians of the Galaxy have undergone a face lift to continue protecting the universe.
In this way, the first post-credits scene places us in a desert environment in which Adam Warlock, Cosmo, Kraglin, Groot, Rocket and Phyla, one of the girls rescued from the High Evolutionary’s ship, discuss their favorite songs. They are all decked out in the Guardians’ uniform and, ultimately, the now self-acknowledged raccoon and leader of the formation choose Redbone’s ‘Come and Get Your Love’ to play during his new mission: protect a village from mob attacks.
This makes it clear that if Marvel Studios has been left wanting more space operas, they will be able to turn again to this extremely interesting assortment of characters, which include juicy additions such as Cosmo, Warlock and, especially a Phyla whose full name in the comics is Phyla-Vell and who is the daughter of Mar-Vell, also known as Captain Marvel. We’ll see how they take advantage of the trio.
star lord will return
The second post-credits scene has less substance. In it, as we mentioned before, Peter’s return to his home planet is picked upin which he shares a breakfast with his grandfather while they cut off the neighbors and read a newspaper on the cover of which there is a direct reference to the Christmas special in the form of an article that talks about the abduction of Kevin Bacon.
Of course, after a couple of jokes without much importance, comes the most interesting: a sign that reads “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return”. Something that opens the door to the return of the character played by Chris Pratt, who already confessed that he wouldn’t mind wielding his blasters again; which contrasts with the words of Dave Bautista or Zoe Saldañawho stressed that this ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ was the end of the cycle for them.
