The unexpected cancellation of ‘Westworld’ was further complicated when Warner announced that it was also removing it from HBO Max. Shortly after it was learned that the company’s plan was to sell its broadcast rights -and those of other series- to free access streaming platforms and now an agreement has just been closed in that direction.
For now. Warner has closed an agreement with Tubi and Roku so that ‘Westworld’ can be seen on both platforms, although with differences depending on the company. For example, Tubi is launching 14 free video-on-demand channels with content from Warner Bros. Discovery. ‘Westworld’ can be seen in one of them, in an agreement that applies to 225 titles with productions as popular as ‘Raised by Wolves’ or ‘The Nevers’.
In the case of Roku, exclusive channels with Warner content will also be launched, but there it seems that the commitment to series is going to be smaller. However, ‘Westworld’ is one of the titles that can be seen there. Of course, we will have to wait until spring of this year so that those channels appear on Roku and we know more concrete details.
And in Spain?
What remains unclear is where we can see ‘Westworld’ in Spain from now on. It is true that SkyShowtime came to the rescue to keep the Spanish and European series canceled by HBO Max, but that did not apply to the science fiction series starring Evan Rachel Wood…
In addition, it must be taken into account that certain Warner movies until now exclusive to HBO Max in Spain are beginning to appear on other platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, so anything seems possible. Well, less than that fifth season with which ‘Westworld’ was going to close is done -and that its actors are going to collect their salaries anyway-.
