Carrefour, Lidl, Eroski, Familia, DIA, Lupa… there are many supermarkets that we can find at street level in our cities. Many options with which to fill the shopping basket (the one that has risen 13% since 2021) and that, as is logical and normal, exert strong competition between them.
Therefore, it is not surprising that, being able to choose, we opt for those where we find good value for money in products with which to prepare our favorite recipes. Of course, beyond those that are considered cheaper, if you want to know which one is the favorite of all supermarketsWithout a doubt, the palm, the crown and the entire medal table goes to Mercadona.
And we are not saying it, but a study carried out by Data Centric, where we have been able to know the map by Autonomous Communities of the preferences in terms of supermarkets and the data is overwhelming as we already anticipated: Mercadona reigns in almost all the territories of Spain, except in the Basque Country where Eroski continues to be the majority.
Thus, in terms of the data collected at the national level, those of Juan Roig take 35.88% of the votes in terms of preferences, followed by Lidl with 19.72% (eye that grows at full speed) and remaining in third place Carrefour with 13.22%.
Of course, it must also be said that these data are curious because the Valencian chain (outside your Autonomous Community of birth) It is not the most predominant in terms of the number of open establishments.
In this sense, they have also drawn up their own map and it is Day the one who cuts the cod, the leading chain at a national level by number of establishments (15.67% of the total) occupying the center of the peninsula, followed by Coviran the second in the ranking with 10.56% of all establishments and in third place Mercadona with 7.65%, all without losing sight of the fact that Gadis reigns in Galicia, Eroski in the Basque Country and, curiously, Spar is still very present in Murcia.
What is clear is that, with what it costs us to agree with the Spaniards, the data being like this, it is for a reason.
