Season 24 of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) is coming loaded with news. If yesterday they confirmed the triple crossover with their franchise sisters, we also have the bad news of that one of the protagonists leaves the criminal series.
Is about Kelli Giddishnone other than the Detective amanda rollinswho has accompanied the captain Benson for the last twelve seasons of NBC fiction. Specifically since the first episode of season 13. It was not the first time that she would appear in the series, since years before she would participate as another character, a rape victim.
The actress announced her departure through Instagram:
“I would like to address the conversation I have seen online and let everyone know that this will certainly be my last season on Law & Order: SVU. Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. I have been so fortunate to be a part of the ‘Law & Order’ family for the last twelve years. There is simply no other character on television like Rollins. He has grown and changed, and so have I. I started on this series when I was in my late 20s and I am grateful to have spent so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.
An exit that has caused a stir
His departure, which is set for sometime in the middle of next season, has brought some outrage to the fans, who have not hesitated to point out the producers of the series to blame them. David Graziano, the new showrunner of the series, has decided to respond to those accusations.
“You can take a moment to think about the idea that things are more complex than they seem in a world of emojis and tweets. All I’m saying is that Kelli has pulled this off with the most incredibly graceful demeanor. She is, without a doubt, one of the best professionals in the industry that I have come across in my 24 years of writing for television. I am saddened by her imminent departure. It will be my lucky day if I ever write for her again.”
Along with Giddish, the main cast of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ is made up of Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, and Octavio Pisano. It has not yet been announced who will fill Rollins’ spot in the Benson-led unit.
