“We can’t wait to talk to them and hear how they envision the future of the franchisesaid Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
There is no information on what the plots or the time of Tolkien’s books will be used as a source for the new films.

The Shire expands its success in trilogies and series
Amazon, the rival studio, launched in September the first season of the television adaptation of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power“.
The series, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings books, is due to expand over five seasons at a cost of more than $1 billion.
The first season gave the Amazon Prime platform its biggest opening with 25 million viewers on its first day, but received a lukewarm response from critics.
Jackson’s original films grossed nearly $3 billion theatrically, and won 17 Oscars, including best picture for the latest installment “The Return of the King” (2003).
The productions starred Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen and Cate Blanchett.
Another trilogy based on “The Hobbit”, also by Tolkien, was also a box office success despite poor critical response.
