There are barely a couple of days left for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to come to an end with ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’; an unexpectedly strong production proving that when Marvel Studios casts aside its status as a Fordist churros factory, it can still tell remarkable stories to keep the big screen alive.
A ruler with a hand of… vibranium
Perhaps, among all the elements that elevate Ryan Coogler’s return to the MCU above what has been seen so far in the Multiverse Saga, it is Namor, the great villain of the show. An antagonist elaborated with care and layers that, according to the director of the film, can equal in strength to great superheroes of the factory like Thor and the very Hulk.
thus has he spoken cogler about the character, reinvented with skill and interest for the occasion.
“Introducing Namor was an opportunity to introduce another politician, another sovereign ruler of a group of people who represents more than himself. There is no level playing field with his abilities; being able to breathe underwater, at high altitudes and walk on land. He’s incredibly strong, as strong as Thor, and if he’s close enough to water he can be as strong as the Hulk.”
For his part, Nate Moore, producer of ‘Wakanda Forever’ has contributed more details about the underwater mutant.
“He’s not interested in rampaging through the world by proxy. He’s not interested in money. He’s interested in protecting his people. And what could be more altruistic than that? Here’s a man who thinks he’s the hero of his own story 100 percent. He doesn’t see himself as a villain because in Namor’s eyes, what he’s doing is to protect a town that has already overcome a tragic history.”
In order to see for yourselves how Namor has liked his landing in the Marvel Universe, you will have to wait until the 11th of this month; date on which ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ will arrive in our theaters.
