The Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally receive one of the characters that were the first protagonists of The House of Ideas, Namor the Submariner, played by Tenoch Huerta, whose appearance was revealed in the second trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever .

One of the details that has drawn attention is the wings that are on Namor’s feet, something that is taken from the history of the Submariner in the comics, since his debut in Marvel Comics # 1.
In an interview for Entertainment Weekly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler defended Namor’s design for the new film exploring the conflict between Wakanda and Talocan.
“(Namor) It has really unique features and things that don’t necessarily go together. He can breathe underwater, obviously, but he’s got these little wings on his ankles. She has pointy ears and walks around in her underwear. Everything is fun”.
Coogler, who after this film will start working on a series that will follow the Wakandan culture for Disney +, pointed out that filmmakers who are in charge of films based on comics must take the risks of innovating while respecting the source material. .
“I think in making these kinds of movies, you have to lean into the weird stuff, or you risk missing out on what makes it funny.”.

Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released on November 10, 2022.
