From singer to actor and later to politician, this is how the career of Serge Mayer. But according to the former Garibaldi, this has not been easy at all, because according to the former politician he revealed that his childhood was marked by economic marginalization and persecution due to his undocumented status in the United States.
“I come from a humble family”expressed in an interview for the Herald of Mexico. The former deputy was born in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office, San Lorenzo Xicoténcatl neighborhood, number nine and studied in public schools. He was supported by his father, who held various trades such as butcher, longshoreman or driver.
At the age of 5, his family decides to go to the United States to seek better opportunities. They entered the country with a visa, but they stayed two more years without the corresponding permission from the authorities, which is why they were detained and deported to Mexico.

This is part of his book that he is working on. He revealed that he will start his text with his parents, their lives, how they met and their beginnings in that area of Mexico City.
“There are people who don’t know that I lived in Iztapalapa, that I studied in government schools, that we left as undocumented. I talk about everything in the book because I am proud of my roots.”
