Queen Elizabeth II lost her life, on Thursday, September 8, 2022, when she was in the balmoral castle.
The complex, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, began to be built in 1390 under the orders of William Drummond. Since then it has repeatedly changed owners, even hosting royal coronations, as happened in 1822 with King George IV.
The current castle was completed in 1855, to designs created by Prince Albert and the Aberdeen architect William Smith. The ballroom was the last room to be completed and was designed to host balls and other functions for the royal visit.
For several years it was considered the rest home of Queen Elizabeth II, who used to spend her holidays and other important dates of the year there. That was where Lady Di and then Prince Charles celebrated their honeymoon.
“It’s a lovely place for grandma and grandpa and for us to go see them there, where you have room to breathe and run,” said Eugenie of York at the time.
Among its main attractions, in addition to the main house, is the ballochbuie forest, a complex that was bought and rescued, in 1878, by Queen Victoria. With that action he prevented it from being destroyed.
As well as being the resting place of the monarch, the Balmoral is also the most visited site in the region. Every year its corridors and gardens are visited by about 85,000 tourists, a figure that will surely increase considerably as it is the place where the monarch died.
Visits were scheduled to resume next October, but plans could change after his unfortunate death.
According to information from various media outlets, the residence occupies a total area of almost 50,000 acres. In addition to having room for your gardens and buildings, the lot also has room for farmland and cattle, as well as thousands of red deer sightings. It also has an orchard with a flower garden and a water garden.
