Things continue to be complicated for the television host Inés Gómez Mont due to the alleged tax crimes and money laundering, as it was recently announced that a Federal Court refused to protect her after having tried to get the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) recognize an agreement that he signed moments before Enrique Peña Nieto ended his government, where he paid 781,186 dollars to the SAT.
With this amparo, it was intended to ensure that the arrest warrant was canceled for the alleged crime of operations with resources of illegal origin, which means that if she is located, Inés Gómez Mont will be arrested and, if found guilty, she could spend 20 to 60 years in jail.
According to the most recent information, magistrate María Dolores Núñez Solorio proposed confirming the sentence handed down in the first instance by a federal judge who denied the protection of justice, since, according to her, this type of agreement is effective in three types of crimes, but not in money laundering, since this is prosecuted ex officio.
It should be remembered that the tax matter began with a complaint from the SAT on the tax return for 2016, in which the driver declared that she had obtained cumulative income in the amount of 2,271,856 dollars. However, she indicated that both legal entities and individuals withheld the amount of $790,622 from ISR, for which she only received $1,511,390.
On November 30, 2018, hours before Enrique Peña Nieto left the presidency, Inés and the SAT Administrator entered into a reparation agreement. However, the agreement was not approved by the Public Ministry because it was detected that the driver paid only 10 million pesos, when what she had to pay was more than 781,186 dollars.
In addition to this, the prosecutor’s office indicated that said agreement was not signed before an authorized public official and that the crime of operations with resources of illicit origin is prosecuted ex officio and agreements are not allowed in advance of the process.
In this way, Inés Gómez Mont continues with the four arrest warrants. Even when her whereabouts are unknown, it should be noted that since 2021, Interpol issued a red file against her and her husband, that is, they are being wanted in more than 190 countries.
