Through a statement, the director of the Pan American Health Organization, Jarbas Barbosa, warned about the proliferation in Mexico and in other countries in the region.
“In other countries in the region where we only expect high transmission in the second half of the year, such as Barbados, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Mexico, we are also seeing an increase in cases”
Likewise, he reported that to date more cases of this disease have been reported compared to 2023. “As of March 15, 2024, the Americas have recorded more than 3.5 million cases of dengue, including more than a thousand deaths, which is a cause for concern, as they represent three times more cases than those reported for this same date in 2023.”he pointed.
