The 18th edition of the Film Festival concludes with mixed results. After two years of hiatus, he returned to the fray with the already customary reduced price of 3.50 each ticket on May 3, 4 and 5.
As they communicated, this edition has closed with a total of 704,927 spectators what se is well below the figures of other years: the last edition in 2019 was a total of 2,291,606 viewers, reaching its highest point in 2016, with 2.6 million.
Even so, it is quite an achievement for theaters considering the context of the pandemic and the forecast for this week, which was expected to be weak due to the absence of powerful premieres and competition from sporting events. The end result has become this week in the third with the highest number of viewers so far this year.

‘The Northman’, Robert Eggers’ Viking movie leads the ranking of the most watched films during these dates, followed by ‘Fantastic Animals: Dumbledore’s Secrets’, ‘The Lost City’, ‘Alcarràs’, ‘Downton Abbey. A new era’, ‘Sonic 2: The movie’, ‘The bad guys’, ‘Morbius’, ‘X’ and ‘The game of keys’, according to Europa Press.
This is an initiative organized by the Federation of Film Distributors (FEDICINE), the Federation of Cinemas of Spain (FECE) and the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), which held its first edition in 2009.
Despite not reaching the figures of previous editions, La Fiesta del Cine has revitalized these days the Spanish box office and has announced dates for its next edition: October 3, 4 and 5.
